Privacy Policy
Last updated July 13, 2026
John Krueger (“Hearth,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) makes Hearth, a family care app that helps families stay connected with and support aging loved ones. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.
By creating an account or using Hearth, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Hearth.
Account information: your name, email address, and role (senior or family member). Most accounts sign in with one-time codes we email you — no password. If you choose to set a password, it is stored only in securely hashed form by our authentication provider.
Family circle information: your family code, circle name, and the names and roles of the people you invite or are invited by.
Health and wellness information you choose to enter: medication names, dosages and schedules, daily mood and wellbeing check-ins, and notes or logs you add.
Apple Health (HealthKit) data, only if you grant permission: activity such as steps, heart rate, blood oxygen, active energy, and sleep. See Section 4.
Photos and voice recordings you choose to create and share with your family circle, including voice journals and voice messages.
Usage information: check-in timestamps, streaks, and in-app activity used to power features and reminders.
Device information: push-notification tokens and basic device identifiers needed to deliver notifications.
We do not intentionally collect Social Security numbers, government IDs, payment card numbers (any future payments are handled by a third-party processor), or precise geolocation.
To provide and operate Hearth: check-ins, medication reminders, the family dashboard, shared photos and voice messages, the calendar, and plain-language wellness summaries.
To send notifications you have enabled, such as medication reminders and family updates.
To generate optional AI summaries and answer general questions (see Section 5).
To maintain security, prevent abuse, debug, and improve reliability.
To comply with law and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising or to build advertising profiles.
Within your family circle: information a senior or family member adds is visible to the members of that circle, which is the core purpose of the app.
Service providers (processors) who help us run Hearth under contract, including: our cloud database and storage provider (Supabase), our AI provider (Anthropic) for the optional summaries and assistant, our app and push-notification platform (Expo), and our subscription-management provider (RevenueCat), which processes subscription status and app-store purchase identifiers. They may process your data only to provide services to us.
Legal and safety: when we believe in good faith it is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the public.
Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
If you choose to connect Apple Health, Hearth reads only the categories you approve (such as steps, heart rate, blood oxygen, active energy, and sleep) to show the senior and their family circle simple wellbeing trends inside the app.
We never use Apple Health data for advertising or marketing, we never sell it, and we never share it with third parties for their own purposes or use it for any purpose other than the in-app features you see.
Apple Health data is handled consistent with Apple’s requirements. You can review or revoke Hearth’s access at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Health.
Some features use artificial intelligence to turn the information in your circle into plain-language summaries or to answer general questions about medications. To do this, we send the relevant context (such as recent activity, health logs, or a medication list) to our AI provider, which processes it to return a response.
We instruct our AI provider not to use the content you send to train its models. AI output is generated automatically, may be incomplete or inaccurate, and is for general information only. It is not medical advice and must not be relied on for medical decisions (see our Terms).
You can avoid AI processing of a given item by not entering it or not using the AI features.
Some of the information you provide — medications, mood and wellbeing check-ins, and Apple Health data — may be considered “consumer health data” under laws such as the Washington My Health My Data Act and Nevada SB 370.
We collect this data only to provide the Hearth features described above, and only after you choose to enter it or connect a source. We share it only with the service providers listed in Section 3 to operate the app. We do not sell consumer health data, and we will not sell it without your separate, valid authorization.
You may withdraw your consent, ask us what consumer health data we hold, and request that we delete it by emailing support@lightyourhearth.com. We will honor valid requests as required by law. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our response; if you are in Washington and remain unsatisfied, you may contact the Washington State Attorney General.
Access, correction, and deletion: you may request a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or delete your account and associated data by emailing support@lightyourhearth.com. We will act on verified requests within the time required by law (generally within 30–45 days).
Permissions: you can revoke camera, microphone, photo, notification, or Apple Health permissions at any time in your device settings.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know, access, correct, and delete personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
To exercise any right, contact support@lightyourhearth.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide Hearth. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period (generally within 30 days), except where we must retain it to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
We use technical and organizational safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and trusted infrastructure providers, to protect your information.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and authorities as required by law.
Hearth accounts and family circles are set up and managed by adults. Younger family members (such as grandchildren) may participate in a circle only when an adult in that circle invites them; that adult confirms they are the child’s parent or guardian or have the parent’s permission, and is responsible for the child’s use.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 outside of an adult-managed family circle, and we collect from child members only what the circle features need (their name and the messages or photos the family shares). A parent or guardian may review or delete a child’s information, or end their participation, at any time by removing them from the circle or emailing support@lightyourhearth.com.
Hearth is operated in the United States, and your information is processed and stored there. If you use Hearth from another country, you understand your information will be processed in the United States.
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email and update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
